What is the difference between Reglazing, Resurfacing and Refinishing?
Dr. Tubs Reglazing technicians are trained to resurface, refinish and reglaze bathtubs of all makes, sizes and colours. Sometimes the tub has rust, holes, craters / depressions that need to be filled in, smoothed out and fixed. The technician will resurface the areas before reglazing the bathtub. Other tubs need to be polished (refinished) instead of reglazing, but most will need to be stripped of its paint, dirt, rust and scum and simply reglazed.
How long does it take to reglaze a tub?
Reglazing a tub usually takes 3-4 hours depending on the type, its size and most importantly, its condition. Some tubs can take up to 6 hours if they are old and dirty.
Is there an odour when reglazing a bathtub?
The chemicals we use to reglaze, resurface and refinish bathtubs contain special solvents that give off a paint-like odour. These solvents are very important as they help make the glaze set and dry properly, while leaving the bathtub with a glossy shine.
Our technicians use industrial ventilation systems to remove the fumes from the work area to the outside.
Do you reglaze claw foot tubs? What about fibreglass?

How does reglazing a bathtub compare to bathtub liners?
Liners are at least four times as expensive and can take several weeks from ordering to installation. If the liner gets cracked or chipped at any time, the entire liner has to be replaced. Not so with a reglazed tub! With reglazing, you not only save time, but money.
Do refinished or reglazed tubs look painted?
No! Most people will not be able to tell the difference between a new bathtub and a Dr Tubs reglazed tub.

What is included in the price?
All the labour and materials. This includes removing the old caulking and replacing it with new acrylic/latex caulking. Chip repairs are often free of charge. You also get our 3-year warranty.
How do I take care of my newly reglazed tub?
This is a very important question. After reglazing the bathtub, make sure that no water, dust, pet hair or anything else touches the reglazed surface for 24 hours. Only afterwards can it be used. Wash the tub down after each use with a soft cloth and a non-abrasive cleaner like Mr Clean, Dawn, Fantastic, Lysol Basin & Tile Cleaner, Palmolive or any soft cleaner. Don't use abrasive-cleaning pads at all. Keep shampoo bottles, soap and mats off the tub, as they can damage the reglazed surface.
Is the paint toxic?
